Records come from government and industry sources, including NMVTIS, NHTSA and salvage auctions. If a source has no record for a car, that section shows “No issues found”. Some events are never reported, so a clean report does not replace an inspection by a mechanic you trust.

Is this a subscription?
No. You pay once. We never charge your card again unless you buy another plan yourself.
Do my reports expire?
You can use your reports any time within 12 months of purchase. Once you open a report, it stays in your account.
Can I use one plan for different cars?
Yes. Each report is for one VIN, and you choose the VINs. A Car Shopper plan lets you check three different cars.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Your reports and remaining credits are saved in your account, so you can open them again from any device.
What if a report has no records for my car?
Newer cars and cars with one owner often have few records. That can be good news. If you think something is wrong, contact support@historybyvin.com. Refunds follow our Terms of Service.
Can I share a report with the seller or a mechanic?
Yes. You can share the link to your report with anyone you choose.
